An ancient manuscript in Aramaic language of the 15° century is the subject that involved Verderame progetto cultura and its CEO, Giulia Silvia Ghia. The book has been showed on May the 18th at Italian event Salone Internazionale del libro in Turin with the minister Dario Franceschini.
The refugee book is from Qaraqosh, the most important Christian town of Kurdistan, Iraq. The ancient Holy Book narrates and remembers the many refugees escaped from the war, the destruction process of many populations, the destruction of entire territories and the “cultural genocide” in all Middle East.
On January the Italian journalists Laura Aprati e Marco Bova have discovered the manuscript. The Bishop of Mosul has given it to Focsiv, an Italian federation of volunteers. The book has arrived in Italy thanks to the Minister Franceschini and Giulia Silvia Ghia of Verderame progetto cultura, opening a direct contact with the MiBACT, the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, and the diplomatic relations and conservation managers.
After Turin, the manuscript has come back to Rome and today it is at ICRCPAL – Istituto Centrale per il Restauro e della Conservazione del Patrimonio Archivistico e Librario for its restoration during the next months, studying its contents and giving an exact date and an historical position.
When the restoration will finish, the manuscript will come back to its owner, the Bishop of Mosul.
